We are an alliance for action.
We are a group of Sonoma County parent and community volunteers, joining together to encourage our school districts to bring farm-fresh, scratch cooked meals to our students. Our goal is to provide support and connect district stakeholders to their appropriate leaders to enact change in the school nutrition system.
Our Goals
- Increase nutritional quality of school meals (more fresh, less processed, less sugar)
- Ensure meals are culturally relevant
- More scratch cooking and involving students in food prep
- More local procurement
- Nutrition education for students (where food comes from, how the food system relates to climate change) and integrate food into other academic subjects
- Help students develop an appreciation for healthy food and actually eat it
